Process
All thedrawings I do before coming up with a finished design are done on tracing paper so that elements I like in one drawing can easily transfered to a fresh sheet of paper. Everything is drawn backwards so that when I'm happy with the drawing on tracing paper it can be flipped over and retraced onto watercolour paper leaving me a line drawing to ink over.
The next step is too add black shading. Originally I used watercolour, but have found Indian Ink alot easier to use as it dries waterproof so other colours can't mix with it.
While working on this coffee table I found it much easier to freehand elements on rather than pre drawing then as there was such a large surface to cover. As there are alot of elements involved in the piece it was easier to draw the snake first and then add roses and skulls around it.
The full sized tattooed lady followed the same process as the coffee table, of drawing larger designs on first and then adding smaller designs around them as filler.

Insert Clever Title Here
To see me out of 2009 and wrap the years work up was the 'Insert Clever Title Here'. Featuring works from Jo Watmore, Gemma Goodwin and myself. The exhibition went on for a week on the 1st floor print landing at Norwich art school. People coming up the stairs were greeted by a life size tattooed girl which was the focal point on my work. Also featured was a coffee table with designs on and a series of framed watercolour designs.
Ink drawings
And now a few ink drawings. All my watercolour colours pieces go through this phase of being line drawings and then having black ink shading added before the watercolours.
